In December, I lost my beautiful and courageous Mum, Angela to Metastatic Breast Cancer. My mum was truly one of a kind, someone who made her mark on the world, and is missed deeply by her family and friends. Mum was diagnosed in 2022, and following this she was frustrated by the lack of support available for those living with MBC. In response to this, she and a group of incredible women - connected by their shared experience - founded Metastatic Breast Cancer Action Australia. Their mission is to raise the collective voice of those affected by MBC, spotlighting critical areas of need and pushing for real, lasting change. In honour of my Mum, I’ll be running the Gold Coast Marathon in July alongside my amazing friends, Claire and Gabi, to raise awareness and funds for this cause so close to my heart. For the 12th year in a row, a number of our Volunteers will be giving up their very comfortable beds to spend a cold, winters night trying to sleep in a Kennel at APS. They will be sharing a kennel with the resident APS dog to raise funds for APS to help them to continue the work they do saving Dogs & Cats in need and making sure that the animals in our care get everything they need until we can find them an amazing Furever Home. Many of our Team will be doing this for the 12th year and will Team up with one of our Woofs to do this. Our Woofs wants you to know that this is their favourite night of the year and are so proud that they can raise funds to help their Buddies in need. The demand for our services has never been higher, every day we are inundated with calls for surrenders and calls from local pounds asking us to help animals that they do not want to have to euthanise. Hi All, A cherished member of the 2SECFOR SQN Team, FLTLT Hayley Robinson, is undergoing her second round of chemotherapy in her fight against Ovarian Cancer. So on 30 June 2SECFOR SQN will be running 1050 laps around the track on base in support of Hayley, and to raise awareness and money for the 1050 women estimated to die from ovarian cancer yearly. FLTLT Robinson battle with ovarian cancer. Meet Hayley, a loving wife and vibrant Mother of two with a passion for life and a heart full of dreams. Hayley's world changed when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in November 2023 at the age of 32. This was just heartbreaking for Hayley, Richard and her beautiful children. Hayley endured two surgeries and six months of chemotherapy. Despite the challenges, her courage and resilience shone through, inspiring everyone around her. Hayley thought her battle was over. Happiness was unexplainable. In May 2025, Hayley's world came crashing down around her. Hayley learnt that the cancer had returned, this time the cancer had spread and her prognosis isn't good. Hayley underwent another major surgery and has since commenced more chemotherapy treatment. The statistics are currently stacked up against Hayley facing a 20% chance of survival. The fundraiser is not for Hayley this is for Daughters, Wives, Sisters, Mothers, Aunts and Grandmothers in the hope research can find an early detection so they don't have to go through the same difficulties Hayley has. Hayley has said how fortunate she is to have the support of loved ones, family, friends and workplace throughout this whole journey. Hayley's story is not unique - thousands of women face the same battle everyday. Around 70% of cases are diagnosed at advanced stages. Early detection could have made a world of difference for Hayley, as it can for so many others. In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Shazzie. With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beautiful mother, Sharon Dymond, whose boundless love, unwavering strength, and quiet grace touched the lives of everyone she met. There are no words that could describe what she means to us and the hurt that we are feeling from losing a piece of our souls. Her love was the foundation of our family. Hi all, Flat Out and Homes not Prisons are raising funds to support Auntie Vickie Roach - proud Yuin woman and respected elder in the movement against the prison industrial complex in Australia. After decades of writing and campaigning Auntie Vickie is now in palliative care for serious respiratory and other health issues. She is in a private rental property and needs support with rent, personal home care, groceries, health and medical costs. We need to raise at least $1000 a month while we try to source more affordable supportive accommodation and care. I am participating in the City to Surf event in Sydney this year to support a charity that makes a real difference. FOr more than 20 years a small Australian charity, Lotus Outreach has run highly effective education scholarship programs for vulnerable girls in Cambodia. These have played a vital role in preventing child slave labour and sex trafficking. It is universally acknowledged that educating girls is the most effective way to help families and communites climb out of poverty. Please help me contribute to continuing this very important work.
