River’s Gift is Australia’s leading organisation dedicated to funding Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) research and delivering infant safe sleep education. Since 2011, we’ve been on a mission to Stamp Out SIDS, inspired by the life and legacy of baby River Waddell, who tragically lost his life to SIDS at just 128 days old.

Shine Blue 2025 marks the 14th anniversary of River’s passing—a powerful reminder of why our work must continue, and why your support is so vital.

While SIDS may no longer dominate headlines, its impact remains devastating. Over 100 babies still die suddenly and unexpectedly in their sleep each year in Australia alone. These are not just numbers—these are families forever changed, futures lost, and grief that never fades.

That’s why this year, we aim to raise $65,000 through our Shine Blue 2025 campaign. Funds raised will directly support targeted SIDS research projects—driving innovation, building knowledge, and helping uncover the causes behind this heartbreaking syndrome.
