Hi Team,

Next Monday 30th June @ 0430h, I LAC Stamp will be doing my part by running a full marathon (42.195km) — 106 laps of the track — to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer.

A cherished member of our SECFOR SQN team, FLTLT Hayley Robinson, is currently undergoing her second round of chemotherapy in her fight against ovarian cancer. In support of Hayley, on 30 June, 2SECFOR SQN will be running 1,050 laps of the base track — one lap for every Australian woman estimated to die from ovarian cancer this year.

Hayley will soon be sharing her story on this site, and it’s one that deserves to be heard.

If we reach our $3,000 fundraising goal, our XO, SQNLDR Tai Kohn, has committed to shaving her head and taking a new official portrait — which will be posted on the SECFOR website!

The run starts at 0715 on 30 June, and all are welcome to join or cheer us on. Come for the laps, stay for the shave! 

We also have some great raffle prizes up for grabs, including vouchers for Paradise Resort, General Republic, local nail salons, and more. Be sure to include your name with your donation to be entered. Raffle will be drawn Friday 5 July.

I’m raising funds for Cherish Women’s Cancer Foundation, whose mission is to raise awareness and fund clinical research that leads to kinder, more effective treatments for women with gynaecological cancers.

Each year, over 6,700 Australian women and girls are diagnosed with gynaecological cancer — and sadly, almost a third will not survive.
